Eggs glorious eggs!

Today is a day for some celebration, my turkey has finally laid her first egg! You may remember that I had previously been casting aspersions about my male turkeys ability to induce, or perhaps seduce his mate into an egg laying mode but clearly and happily I was wrong.

Now I just have to wait until I have a few more before (fingers crossed) hatching starts!

Eggs galore!

The hens and ducks also laid a grand total of 29 eggs in the past two days. We had suspected them of laying out during the day so we kept them in for two days (with food and water), and lo and behold we have a glut of eggs. I almost wish now though, that we hadn’t stumbled upon this revelation because I have no idea how to use up all of these eggs; I love to bake but not that much!

Praise where praise is due though, Horace and Sebastien have proved themselves to be worthy additions to the farm. They truly deserve some treats, which is just what I’m going out to give them now.

Wow, that’s so impressive! You will have little turkeys. And glut of eggs is good, all those egg salads and cakes, yum!

Homemade egg and chips is a firm fav in our family and with some family members having 3 eggs each we soon get through them. Nothing beats a really fresh egg.

That is a lot of eggs, how exciting! You can try making a Dutch baby…it’s a pancake that uses about 4 eggs per batch. It is fun to make too.

I don’t eat many eggs so that many would last me ages. That blue one looks rather different. xx

There is nothing nicer than fresh eggs. Lemon curd, ice cream, real custard, lovely cakes rich with butter and eggs, creamy quiches, frittata and……………! Blow the cholesterol some foods are just too nice to ignore.
