Run Pheasant, Run!

November 3, 2013 by Hannah

The peace of the farm was shattered this weekend, gunshot rattled and punctuated the usual quiet, driving the dogs into a frenzy of barking. I’m not anti-hunting, so long as the hunters are conscientious. Yet, I have to admit that I was very happy to see this cock pheasant limping out across our fields in the opposite to direction to the sound of guns.

Another thing which brought me great cheer (although it always does) was carving my own pumpkin for Halloween.

So all in all, not a terrible weekend once I located the ear plugs!

Here I need ear plugs for the fireworks. There’s far too many loud bangs and not enough whizzes nowadays. xx

  2. snowbird says:

Pleased to hear the pheasant got away….and WOW….that is a rather smashin’ pumpkin carving.xxxx

  3. Not happy to read of a limping pheasant. Maimed foul is not good sportsmanship.

  4. Caro says:

Love the pumpkin carving and I’m glad the pheasant got away to see another day. Such beautiful birds!

  5. Annette says:

I’m not anti-hunt but I don’t like the idea of handfeeding tame pheasants all year only to let them go in the autumn to be shot down in complete and utter surprise. Nice pumkin, Hannah šŸ™‚
